The phosphates processing industry started in Tunisia since 1947, with the creation of the SIAPE Company at SFAX.
The Groupe Chimique Tunisien has developed within its field of activity, its proper processes and made a considerable contribution within its boundaries in Tunisia and worldwide.

Two technologies were then created for low and medium grade P2O5 phosphate processing in Phosphoric Acid manufacturing at low concentration as well as Triple Super Phosphate. During the past few years, another Tunisian process was created for phosphoric acid purification through reducing cadmium and fluorine contents in order to reach a top quality product meeting international standards.

Backed by a large experience in the field of phosphate industry,  GCT is very often solicited by fertilizer producers worldwide for technical assistance required to the adjustment or reconversion of existing facilities as well as new project studies.

The Tunisian phosphate processing industries use exclusively the SIAPE processes for the manufacture of Weak Phosphoric Acid through wet dehydrate process, and manufacture of Granulated Triple Super Phosphate. These processes, which are known worldwide, were initially developed at the SIAPE plant by its own Engineers.

They provide the following advantages :

Adaptability to all phosphate quality types;
Easiness of operation;
Low investment and maintenance costs;
Excellent performances achieved

These processes are also used in all the GCT plants in Tunisia. They are also used overseas, namely in Greece, Turkey, Romania, Syria and Bulgaria. Therefore these technologies fit the various phosphate quality types currently available in the international market.
