While planning its development,  GCT has given the Tunisian market a particular attention, and large education campaigns targeting farms are constantly being launched jointly with national institutions to extend the use of TSP and DAP throughout the country. 

In 1983  GCT began manufacturing ammonitrate mainly for the domestic market after having previously imported it. 

The ammonium nitrate plant, located in Gabes, has a production capacity of 330000 tons per year. Most of this is sold in the local market with the remainder being exported. Along with its production of fertilizer ammonium nitrate, the Gabes plant has a capacity of production of 30000 tons of Explosive Grade  Ammonium Nitrate (EGAN) yearly - 2/3 of which goes to the domestic market.
