The chemical industry, based upon the processing of raw materials into intermediary or finished products, generates by-products natural of liquid and solid waste and gas emissions which are a major ecological concern. All along the development of the phosphate field since 1952, the GCT has always used the most advanced technologies and specific equipment available every step on the way in order to reconcile industry and natural environment in the best possible way . The Groupe Chimique Tunisien has
invested intensively and is currently planning to make a significant investment aimed
to further improve the current situation of phospogypsum discharge at Gabes. The mineral beneficiation process is used in various washing facilities. Such process is purely physical and is performed on the bases of the ore's grain size selection and water washing. The CPG is eager to ensure a better follow-up of the slurry discharge in order to protect the environment. The development of the Tunisian phosphoric acid process using humid phosphate has contributed to the elimination of dust generated by the phosphate drying facilities. Thus the major part of the phosphate rock production of CPG is used "as it is" without any damage to the environment owing to the absence of dust. |
